The term "5.1 Wire Free HD Audio" means that the transport of audio to the speakers is done without the need for speaker cables. Keep in mind something we see so many people forget, AC power is also required to run your television, any source you are using to watch (i.e. your Blu-ray/DVD player, streaming appliances, gaming console, etc.) and any AVR you may previously have needed/used. As such, power must be available near the (AVR-replacing) Smart Center speaker, the two front speakers and the subwoofer in any typical home theater setting they would be used in. Adding a simple power strip may or may not even be necessary depending on your configuration. All of the speakers come with 9 feet of AC cable making the reach to the same power strip you are using for your TV and input source easy and convenient.- with the rear surrounds easily powered from a single outlet. As an exicitng footnote, Enclave Audio is currently in the late prototype phase for battery packs that will seamlessly mount onto the satellite speakers offering true power and audio wire free operation and portability. The system is HDMI version 1.4b with HDCP 1.4. If you have a 4k 2.2 HDCP enabled tv, we recommend using an HDCP 2.2 to 1.4 converter found easily online. Our 7.1 slimline center currently in the design phase will include HDCP 2.2/ HDMI 2.0b and a discounted upgrade program will be made available to those who have purchased the 5.1 CineHome system to easily and affordably switch out the center and additional speakers in the package..
With a traditional wired 5.1 system, you would need an AVR, two front speakers, a subwoofer and two rear speakers. A competitively tiered 5.1 home theater system complete purchased as separates (not a Walmart HTIB product) will cost you about same or less as the Enclave system without the wire free audio convenience and specifically tuned audio quality..

However, the Enclave system does accept Bluetooth as an audio source device allowing your mobile phone or tablet to act as a source for streaming music.
